The Mime Company’s mission is to present theater performances and education programs that engage the community with the theatrical art of mime. Focusing on the body as the primary tool for communication, The Mime Company seeks to engage audiences with live theater using stories and themes that transcend the boundaries of spoken language.
Each year, The Mime Company’s ensemble of artists creates original performances for theater audiences, building on a vast repertoire developed since TMC’s beginnings in 1972. The newest work is Orpheus and Eurydice, an adaptation of the Greek myth depicting the epic descent into the Underworld to recover a lost love. TMC also brings educational performances, workshops, and longer term artist-in-residence programs to schools throughout the Chicago area. TMC’s educational programs are conducted by the ensemble of teaching artists and provide a unique theater experience for students of any age.
